Dipali Bhandari’s Success Story
Dipali Bhandari’s journey is a powerful example of how hard work, determination, and the right opportunity
can transform a life. Living in the Sundarbans region, Dipali faced many challenges — low household income,
limited livelihood options, and difficulty supporting her children’s education.
After Cyclone Amphan struck, the situation for her family became even more difficult. During this time,
MUKTI stepped in with its Craft-Based Livelihood Program, aimed at empowering local women by training them
in different handmade and eco-friendly craft skills.
Dipali immediately enrolled in the program. She worked with dedication to learn various crafts — from sola
handicrafts to soft toy making, hand-processed food items, and eco-friendly décor products. She practiced
every day, eager to master each skill and improve the quality of her work.
Her passion and commitment soon stood out. Recognizing her potential, the MUKTI team appointed her as a
Craft Production Supervisor, responsible for coordinating production, ensuring quality, and guiding other
women in their training.
In this new role, Dipali worked tirelessly. She supported other women, taught them new techniques, and
helped them gain confidence in producing high-quality handicrafts. She became a trusted leader, someone
everyone relied on for guidance and encouragement.
Through her perseverance and dedication, Dipali not only improved her own life but also uplifted the women
around her. She earned a stable income, gained respect in her community, and ensured better education and
opportunities for her children.
Dipali’s story is a shining example of how MUKTI Crafts is transforming lives — one skilled artisan at a time.
Maya Das’s Success Story
Maya Das, a resident of a small village in the Sundarbans, had always dreamed of giving her children a better
future. But with her husband’s inconsistent income and the rising cost of living, she struggled to meet even
basic daily needs.
Everything changed when Maya joined MUKTI Crafts’ Skill Development Program. She chose to learn handmade
jute products, a craft she had never tried before. Though she was nervous in the beginning, Maya practiced
daily — weaving, stitching, and shaping the natural fibres into beautiful, eco-friendly products.
Her hard work quickly paid off. Maya’s craftsmanship became one of the finest in her batch, and MUKTI Crafts
selected her as a Lead Artisan, responsible for mentoring new trainees and maintaining product quality.
Today, Maya earns a stable monthly income, has opened her own small workspace at home, and proudly supports
her children’s education. She often says:
"MUKTI didn’t just teach me a skill — it gave me confidence, identity, and independence."
Sabita Mondal’s Success Story
For years, Sabita Mondal struggled with unemployment after her family’s agricultural land became unproductive
due to saline water intrusion. With no steady income, she felt helpless watching her household fall deeper
into financial crisis.
When she heard about MUKTI Crafts’ Eco-Friendly Toy Making Unit, Sabita decided to join. She learned how to
create handmade cloth toys, soft dolls, and decorative plush items. Sabita’s creativity and patience made her
stand out from the rest.
Recognizing her potential, MUKTI Crafts promoted her to Design Coordinator, where she now helps develop new toy
styles, trains women in stitching and finishing, and ensures that each product meets market standards.
Today, Sabita not only earns with dignity but also motivates other women in her community to join the program.
Her income has helped her repair her home and ensure proper healthcare for her family.
She says proudly:
"MUKTI Crafts turned my creativity into my livelihood. Now I feel I can shape my own destiny."
Rina Sardar’s Success Story
Before joining MUKTI Crafts, Rina Sardar worked as a daily labourer, earning very little and facing constant
uncertainty. She wanted a stable income but had no access to training or opportunities in her village.
Her life began to change when she enrolled in the Sola Craft Program run by MUKTI Crafts. Despite having no
prior experience, Rina learned quickly — crafting sola flowers, home décor items, and festival ornaments with
precision and beauty.
Her dedication impressed the MUKTI team, and she was soon appointed as a Sola Craft Unit Supervisor. In this
role, Rina manages production schedules, ensures material availability, and supports dozens of women in
developing their craft skills.
Rina now earns a sustainable income every month, has savings for the first time in her life, and feels empowered
to support her aging parents and her young daughter.
She shares:
"I never imagined I could become a supervisor. MUKTI Crafts helped me discover the strength I didn’t know I had."
